Reading Series: Exhibit A - 411 dramaturgy co.
Show Time
Sun 29 | 5:30
On the cusp of her high school graduation, an 18 year old girl is brutally raped and murdered by her two disturbed male friends. Though at first protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the boys were later tried and convicted as adults. Court-ordered psychiatrists diagnosed the teenage boys as psychopaths, with little to no chance of rehabilitation. Piecing together verbatim testimony and evidence from court transcripts used in the Kimberly Proctor murder investigation, Exhibit A is both a meditation and a warning on the nature of psychopathy.
Exhibit A was first presented as a short piece in the site-specific festival BridgeMix 2011 (co-produced by ITSAZOO Productions and Enlightenment Theatre). It was expanded into a full-length version as a graduate directed study under the supervision of Dr. Yana Meerzon (University of Ottawa). Exhibit A has had two public staged readings in Ottawa, at Studio Léonard-Beaulne and Academic Hall. Exhibit A will have its world premiere in Vancouver, spring of 2013, produced by ITSAZOO Productions.
